This policy explains what information the Matatu Classic app and website (“Matatu Classic”, “we”, “us”) collect, why we collect it and how we look after it. We aim to handle personal data in line with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
Information we collect
- Account details: the email address and Google account ID you sign in with, your nickname and the avatar you choose.
- Phone number and network: your Ugandan mobile number and whether it is MTN or Airtel, used for mobile money payments.
- Game activity: your matches, moves, results, rating and statistics.
- Wallet and payments: your balance, deposits, withdrawals, stakes, winnings, transfers and the payment references from MTN or Airtel.
- Technical information: your IP address and basic connection details, used to keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not ask for, and never store, your mobile money PIN or your Google password.
How we use it
- To create and run your account and match you with opponents.
- To process deposits, withdrawals and payouts through MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money.
- To keep games fair, detect cheating, fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including keeping financial records.
Who can see your information
- Other players see only your nickname, avatar and rating. They never see your phone number, email or balance.
- Payment providers (MTN and Airtel) receive the details needed to complete your payments.
- Google confirms your identity when you sign in with Google.
- Our hosting provider stores our data on secure servers on our behalf.
- Authorities, where the law requires us to share information.
We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. Payment and transaction records may be kept for longer where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Some records may need to be kept for legal reasons. To make a request, contact us through our Telegram support chat and include your Account ID.
Security
Connections to Matatu Classic are encrypted (HTTPS). Balances and game results are kept on our server, not on your phone, and access to player data is restricted.
Age
Matatu Classic is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page when we do.
